In glass squeeze lamps, the base of the glass body is squeezed so that it fits exactly into the corresponding socket. The slightly protruding contact wires are thereby gripped by spring contacts, which at the same time establishes electrical contact and holds the lamp in the socket. In the automotive sector, they are often installed as instrument lamps.
